Today's doodle prompt is SQUARE.

What do you see in your mind when you think of a square? You can doodle something that is normally square shape like a table, picture frame, or pillow or something that isn't normally square shape like an animal, person, meatball...You can use a square as an element in your doodle or as the main focus. You can draw a square and fill it with Zentangles or make a square-ish font, or hat or anything else on the previous prompt list above. Enjoy letting your mind wander and turn a square into whatever you want. You can also create an abstract design of squares of different sizes on the page, just let your pencil go - a page of squares can be very relaxing.

Doodle Day May - Day 24

Welcome to Day 24 of the Doodle Day May challenge. The participants in this challenge have been doodling everyday for 23 days and the feedback has been fantastic! I am seeing a ton of doodles posted and I am reading that people are finding the process relaxing. Great! Keep doodling!

If you are new to the challenge, click HERE to learn about his challenge or check out the previous posts on the right of this blog (scroll down a bit).

Today's doodle prompt is FLAME.

You can draw a campfire or a fireplace fire or just some flames. I enjoy drawing abstract flames and have several pages of these in old sketchbooks.

Here are some examples of flames:

DOODLE DAY MAY - Day 23

Welcome to Day 23 of the Doodle Day May challenge! If you are new to this challenge, you can catch up on the previous links found on the right side of this blog (scroll down a bit). This is a challenge to create a doodle (drawing that required very little thinking to create) every day during the month of May. Doodles can take up to 2 minutes, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, or even an hour but if you are spending more than an hour, you are over thinking this challenge and working too hard to make your drawing perfect. Just put your pencil to the paper and see where it goes.

Today's doodle day prompt is VEGETABLE.

Draw one vegetable - cooked, raw, growing, ... Just one.

Some veggies are pictured below for your reference:

There are lots of veggies on each of these photos but you do NOT need to fill a page with different vegetables, just pick one or create your own. By now, I know many of you doodlers who are active in this challenge. You might create a doodle of a mouse stealing a vegetable from a garden or a crazy monster out of vegetables or a veggie hat - have fun with it. Doodle the first thing that pops into you head when you think of veggies in general or a specific kind of vegetable. Quick, broccoli! Now, doodle.

DOODLE DAY MAY - Day 22

Welcome to Day 22 of the Doodle Day May challenge! It's been doodle mania around here! My sketchbook is more than halfway full and it was new on May 3rd. Wow! That is a lot of doodles - and they have all been soo much fun to create. I hope all of you participants are have a great time doodling along with me. If you missed any of the posts, you can catch up by clicking the link on the right side of this blog (scroll down a bit) or you can go to our Facebook Group page.

Today's doodle prompt is FONT.

A font is a set of type of one particular shape and size. Create a word or a single letter in some kind of font. Try something new - go for a style that's a little different than Arial or Times New Roman. Try something blocky, bubbly, swirly, zig-zagy, ... Don't think you need to fill a page, just play with a single letter or word.

Here are some interesting fonts that I found:

I have received a few questions about whether or not a t-shirt is available with the Doodle Day May badge. The answer is yes - if you want one. I can upload it to Café Press or Queensboro in a matter of minutes if there is interest. Post a comment or message me or post it in the Facebook group page - if you are interested and I'll get it moving.

Now for today's doodles. I have been going back and forth with concrete themes such as Hat and fluid motion themes such as Swirls and have outlined the themes for the remainder of the month. : )

Today's doodle prompt is SHOE.

Draw a shoe - it doesn't have to be attached to a character, just draw or design one shoe (or pair). Go with a boot, a heel, a slide, a flip-flop, a slipper, a tennis shoe, a gym shoe, a cowboy boot, or any other kind of shoe you can come up with. Don't spend a lot of time on it - just doodle whatever comes to mind and don't over think it. Remember you can always do a one continuous line drawing of a shoe-ish shape or create an outline of a shoe and fill it with Zentangles. Shoe might also mean telling a fly to skedaddle. The interpretation is up to you. : )

DOODLE DAY MAY - Day 20

Welcome to Day 20 of the Doodle Day May challenge! I can hardly believe you all have been doodling along with my daughter and I and posting your creations on our Facebook Page for 20 days! This has been a lot of fun and I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with for the last 11 days of the challenge. I've received a lot of inquiry about keeping the group open past May 31st and my response is YES, the page will stay open. I will not be posting prompts throughout June but I could get some guest bloggers to take a few days here and there and I encourage everyone who continues to doodle to post their doodles, their drawing questions, their ideas, etc... The group has become a wonderful community of artists, writers, teachers, parents, and friends.

If you are new to the challenge, this is a month long challenge to create a Doodle each day during the month of May. A doodle is a drawing that can take up to 2 minutes, 5 minutes, 10 minutes or even an hour from start to finish but if you are spending more than an hour on a doodle, you are trying too hard. Don't overthink it. Grab a pencil, pen, marker, crayon, piece of chalk or whatever you can and create some squiggly lines on a post it, paper, envelope, paper plate, etc...

Today's doodle prompt is FISH.

Draw one fish. You do not have to add color to your fish or a scene around it. Just a fish. There are soo many different kinds of fish, draw one that exists or make up your own. Draw an outline for a fish and fill it with Zentangle patterns. Create a fish purse, a fish hat, a continuous line of a fish design, a fish pattern on a different shape, etc... One fish.

If doodling a fish creates too much thinking, create some fish scale patterns (see pics below).
