Draw a swirly design. You can use spirals or just curvy lines. This is doodling at it's best - put your pencil to the paper and see where it takes you. Play some music and let your arm follow the tune.

Enjoy some truly relaxing doodling today.

Here are some reference pics for you.

DOODLE DAY MAY - Day 17

Welcome to Day 17 of the Doodle Day May Challenge! I hope you are having as much fun as I am as you create your doodles. If you are new to this challenge, you can catch up on the posts listed below and if you want to join in (it's never too late), go to our Facebook Group page. If you are not on Facebook, you can still be a part of this stress free doodle zone. Just pick up a pencil, crayon, marker, pen, or bottle of maple syrup and start creating some swirly lines and shapes. See where the line takes you. I post prompts each day but you do not have to use them, create anything you want but don't spend a lot of time. We are doodling, not creating portfolio pieces. This is a challenge meant to relax, inspire, and let your creativity shine.

Today's doodle prompt is FRUIT.

Draw one fruit - any fruit - an apple, a banana, a pineapple - any fruit. It doesn't have to be your favorite or on a plate or table or in a bowl  - just doodle it on the page. Don't over complicate it (unless you want to). Personally, I will draw something VERY simple like grapes - grapes will be relaxing, lots of circles.

Yes, I am eating strawberries for breakfast.

DOODLE DAY MAY - Day 16

Welcome to Day 16 of the Doodle Day May Challenge! This challenge began as Erin's idea to invite friends to create a daily doodle with us and has turned into a truly wonderful community of artists, writers, parents, teachers, and friends. If you are new to the challenge, you can learn more about Doodle Day May at the original post and you can see all of the blog posts for the prompts at the links listed below:

For today's doodle prompt, Erin came up with it and asked me to post a video of her explaining it to you:

This prompt is vast - in could be a star, comet, planet, asteroid, swirls, circles, shooting star, an astronaut, ... Don't over think it. Simplify it into a doodle so that it is fun and carefree.

DOODLE DAY MAY - Day 15

Welcome to Day 15 of the Doodle Day May challenge! The participants have been drawing everyday for over 2 weeks and I bet that a habit is forming. A habit of putting a pencil to a page and seeing where it goes. A habit of relaxing and being in your own thoughts for at least a few minutes a day. Great! Life can be stressful. We all have a zillion things going on - pulling us in different directions. This challenge (which really shouldn't be considered a challenge) is to allow yourself some time for carefree drawing each day.

If you are new to Doodle Day May - you can catch up on previous posts below or check out our Facebook Group page. If you want to join, it is never too late. I post a daily prompt to give an idea of what to doodle each day but you never have to use it - create whatever you want but try create something. A doodle could take 2 minutes, 5 minutes, 10 minutes or even up to an hour but honestly, if you are spending more than an hour, it is not a doodle - it is a masterpiece and you are trying too hard or over thinking it. These do not have to be perfect. Nobody is grading, nobody is judging. Enjoy the feeling of the movement on the page.

As you can see on the list above, some of the doodle prompts were a bit complex and may have caused you to put in a bit more effort than a doodle needs to take. This week, we are stepping it back a bit so that the drawings can be more carefree.

Today's doodle prompt is HEART.

Draw one heart. Do not feel like you need a scene or a page full of different kinds of hearts, one is enough.

You can create a heart and fill it with a pattern, create it from a pattern, do a one continuous line drawing, a zentangle, turn a heart into something else, etc...

Here are some hearts for reference:

DOODLE DAY MAY - Day 14

Welcome to Day 14 of the Doodle Day May challenge. Yesterday's prompt of Through the Window was difficult - I'm sorry. Let's step it back to more fun, carefree, doodles. The kind that we can absentmindedly meander down the page. No scenes. Doodling is meant to be carefree, relaxing, and fun.

Summer is approaching and the sun is on its way. I am so ready to feel the warmth on my face when I read, write, and draw outside.

Today's doodle prompt is SUN.
Doodle one sun.

You can add color if you want to but you never need to in this challenge. You can draw with a pencil, crayon, colored pencil, marker, pen, chocolate syrup - whatever you have handy.

Nothing to think about on this one - create a sun  any way you want.

Enjoy!
